ReplyIf 50% of the population would just be as persistent to write and call as Rebecca Poyourow, this country would be amazing. Writing to our elected officials is so much easier than many of us think. Here is a link to find elected officials by zip code. http://www.congress.org/congressorg/dbq/officials/
Every letter, email and phone call matters :-) -

ReplyExcellent point! I totally forgot to mention the Friends of the Wissahickon as an organization with which one could volunteer. http://www.fow.org/get.php Get all the positives of giving and the outdoors, all in one!

Ahh Louise, yes, this is Philadelphia and I really do need to do a story on rowing. Perhaps when we get close to the Dadvail, I will dive into that wonderful, low-impact, high-cardio form of exercise. Thanks for the reminder :-)

ReplyHello Jane, Thanks for the spell check. As for the "fact check" ShopRite does not cary Newman's Own Ranch dressing, though it carries many other Newman's Own selections. Since ShopRite is my personal local store of choice, I wish they DID carry it.

Hi Mari,
This is a health/nutrition/fitness column that has been running in the Roxborough Patch for over a year. Chestnut Hill and Narberth Patches have just added it to the lineup. Typically, it shows up as News with the subcategory of Opinion, except when it is discussing fitness/sports issues. I hope you find the column helpful. Cheers -

ReplyThanks Ladies. I hope that education helps people make better choices. Labels are so deceiving until we read the fine print or do research beyond the label. Mentioning "something you read in an article" can be a bridge to talking to people about a topic like this without coming across as a know it all or judgmental. NAMASTE
