Renowned Jazz Trombone Player to Prep LM Ensemble Before Competition

Wycliffe Gordon will be coming to Lower Morealnd High School on Feb. 21 to help the Jazz Ensemble before its national competition in Savannah, Georgia.

As part of their acceptance to the "Swing Central Jazz Festival" in Savannah, Georgia, the Lower Moreland Jazz Ensemble will be receiving a guest clinic by renowned jazz trombone player Wycliffe Gordon. Gordon, who is a clinician in the festival, will come to the High School on Feb. 21 for a two-and-a-half-hour session to get the the LM musicians ready for the festival. It will take place in the High School band room from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Lower Moreland Jazz Ensemble was selected as one of only 12 high school jazz ensembles from across the country to be invited to perform in this festival after submitting a recorded audition to the Swing Central Jazz judges. Lower Moreland Selected to Swing Central Jazz Festival in Georgia

The Lower Moreland Jazz Ensemble was one of 12 bands in the country to be selected, and this marks the second year in a row LM will travel to Georgia.

The Lower Moreland High School Jazz Ensemble has been selected (for the second year in a row) as one of 12 bands in the country to participate in the Swing Central Jazz Festival in Savannah, Georgia, from March 27 to March 30. The 12 ensembles were selected by judges using an anonymous audition process.  The Jazz Ensemble will receive a clinic here at the High School in February with one of the esteemed jazz musicians from the festival.  They will then travel to Savannah, Georgia to participate in three days of clinics, workshops, concerts and performances with some of the greatest jazz musicians in the world.  2011: Lower Moreland performs at Swing Central Jazz Festival Twelve of the nation’s top high school jazz bands have been selected …
