So, what can a township resident do to rid their yard of waste? The Township can help. The Lower Moreland Public Works Department has started its 2013 Yard Waste Collection. "Collection for these items will be every Monday, please have bundles cut into 3 foot sections and tied with twine or string," said the Lower Moreland Township website. If you need bags to fill, the township helps you out there, too. "Yard Waste bags are sold at the Township Building," said its site. "Prices are three for $1 and a bundle of 50 for $16." As the weather warms, so too comes road closures.
'Tis the season, right? No, not the holiday season. It is spring. And, in addition to those allergies, gorgeous blooming flowers and playing outdoors, there is another sign of the times. With the warmer weather comes new road construction. The heated temperatures make it ideal to make the needed fixes to area roadways. Lower Moreland Police warn of scams in the area.
Lower Moreland is heating up. Mother Nature is showing her signs of spring, and most are happy to see it come. Lower Moreland Police, however, want you to take warning. Some may use the seasonal warmth to scam you. "Unfortunately, an unpleasant, expensive scheme has also become synonymous with the spring and summer season: Driveway sealing and repavement scams," wrote the LMPD in the township's newsletter. "A workman might come to your door asking if you would like to have your driveway done. They may say they were doing a job in the area and had some material leftover, and can do your driveway for a low price." Sadly, the story doesn't have a happy ending. "Later, after you pay them and they are gone, you start to notice problems. Either…

The Forest Hills Cemetery sign has been an eyesore in the township for the last handful of months.
After an alleged drunk driver damaged the entrance sign at the Forest Hill Cemetery, the Memorial Park Supervisor said they are considering removing the sign while it works out the purchasing costs for a new one. The sign was damaged in January, and the remains are a bit of an eyesore for anyone driving near the intersection of Byberry Road and Philmont Avenue. Four months later nothing has been done about it. Should the sign be taken down? Vote in our poll below Supervisor Scott Nulty said the cemetery received $2,300 from the insurance company to repair the sign, but that would not cover the entire cost. In the meantime, Nulty told Patch last month they are considering taking down what’s left of the damaged sign, but so far nothing has …
