Upper Moreland Dad Charged After Death of 2-Month Old Child

Edward Doyle, 28, will go in front of a judge for charges of Endangering the Welfare of Children after the death of his 2-month old child.

Upper Moreland Police Chief Alex Levy and Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman have announced the arrest of Edward Doyle, 28, of the 2500 block of Horsham Road, for Endangering the Welfare of Children and an on-going investigation into the death of his 2-month-old daughter Makayla Doyle. According to the Affidavit, a police officer arrived at the residence - Wellington Apartment Complex on the 2500 block of Horsham Road - at 9:38 a.m. The officer found the body of the 2-month-old on a bed in the master bedroom with swelling on her forehead and bruising and cuts on the bridge of her nose. Second Alarmer’s Ambulance took her to Abington Memorial Hospital for treatment. Doctors pronounced her dead at 10:04 a.m. on Feb. 24. …

Davisville Road to be Closed at Byberry Most of Thursday

Davisville Road will be closed for a large portion on Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to the Upper Moreland Police Department have announced that Davisville Road will be closed at Byberry Road on Thursday Feb. 14 for a substantial part of the day. Cars will not be permitted to drive north on Davisville from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you use these roads for your morning or daily commute, please be advised to find alternate routes. Traffic traveling south on Davisville Rd. will have to turn onto Byberry Rd. Byberry Rd. will be reduced to one lane at Davisville Rd. The police department has advised residents to expect delays.

Accidents Cause Havoc on Roads Monday Night

Along with the snow came accidents on local roads in Montgomery County.

A fast-moving winter weather system may be to blame fore several accidents on numerous local roads Monday evening. Snow started to fall around the region shortly after dark in Montgomery County and ended up dropping close to half an inch, according to the National Weather Service’s Mount Holly, N.J. office. With the snow came several vehicle crashes. Crews from Bucks and Montgomery counties responded to County Line and Bux Mont roads on the Lower Moreland and Lower Southampton border at around 9:30 p.m. for an accident with reported injuries. According to the Montgomery County dispatch website, vehicles involved in the crash ended up on both sides on the roadway. UPDATE: Burn Victim in Stable Condition

An elderly woman suffered burns after a fire broke out at Willow Lake in Willow Grove.

A fire broke out Friday night at Willow Lake, a senior housing facility in Willow Grove, which resulted in one victim being airlifted to Temple University hospital. Saturday morning the Upper Moreland Police Department confirmed that the 90-year-old woman is now in stable condition and can expect to return to Willow Lake later next week. "She is in stable condition," police said. "We're anticipating her returning to the home next week. For the condition she was in and her age, this is really fantastic news." Police are not releasing the name of the victim, but Willow Grove Fire Company Chief Brian Focht said the fire sprinkler system held the fire to just one room in a residential unit. Chopper Takes Victim From Senior Home After Fire

Firefighters respond to a fire at Willow Lake, a senior housing facility in Willow Grove.

An elderly victim was flown by medical helicopter to a burn center in Philadelphia after a blaze at the Upper Moreland retirement home where they live. A fire sprinkler system held the fire to just one room in a residential unit at the Willow Lake community on York Road, Willow Grove Fire Company Chief Brian Focht said. The victim suffered burns at around 6 p.m. and is being treated at the burn center at Temple University Hospital, Focht said. A medical helicopter landed at Upper Moreland High School to transport the victim. Smoke and water damage on the third floor of the assisted living community are causing some residents of the community to be relocated, officials said. Local Martin Luther King Jr. Observances

New Bethel A.M.E. Church will host a service tonight in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Pastor Hamlin will be preaching tonight, Wednesday Jan. 16, at New Bethel A.M.E. Local Kids to Help Bring Joy to Sandy Hook Students

Students of all ages will make snowflakes that will be given to Sandy Hook Elementary.

Residents of Wesley Enhanced Living Upper Moreland, along with kindergarteners from Children of America Childcare Center of Warminster and students of all ages from the surrounding community, will all come together on Thursday, December 27 at 2 p.m. to make snowflakes of all shapes and sizes.  The Huntingdon Valley Starbucks, 2096 County Line Road, is also participating and has a station set up by the front door to collect hand-make snowflakes. Planned Violence at Upper Moreland Was Just a Rumor

The Upper Moreland Police Department and school officials recently investigated an incident after talks of a possible attack at the schools.

The tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut has everyone across the country on heightened alert when it comes to violent attacks. Days after the Sandy Hook Elementary School incident, Upper Dublin High School was put on lockdown after a student held his umbrella like a gun. And now days after that, talks of another possible attack hit closer to home. Earlier this week the police had to step in after students at Upper Moreland High School were suspected of planning an attack at the school.
