Lower Moreland Hosts Mini-THON This Friday

Students and faculty will host the 6th Mini-THON at the High School from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Over the last five years Lower Moreland students and faculty have raised more than $190,000 in its Mini-THON event to help fight pediactric cancer.  The 6th annual event will be held on Friday, Nov. 16. The fundraiser is modeled after the one at Penn State University that happens every February. Lower Moreland Holds Mini-THON Workshop for Local Schools

Students and faculty from nine local schools gathered at Lower Moreland High School last week to be part of a seminar in how to run their own fundraiser.

Lower Moreland has been one of the pioneers in raising money for cancer. Over the last five years, LMHS has helped raise over $160,000 at Mini-THON, the smaller version of the popular fundraiser held at Penn State University every year to help fight pediatric cancer. High schools such as Springfield have been organizing these types of events for the last decade, but now the students at LM who have been so successful running the event got the chance to show other local schools how it’s done. Last week representatives from Abington, Phoenixville, Upper Merion, Agnes Irwin, Springside, Springfield, Lehighton, Liberty High School and Penn Charter were on hand at Lower Moreland High School to listen to teachers, students and former students …

Got a kick out of your "conspiracy theory". The high school advisor went to Lehigh, and every Mini-THON lead student thus far has chosen a University other than PSU (Maryland, Pitt, West Chester, St. Joe's, Temple...) His co-advisor is a Penn State alum, though it's probably tough for her to roll out a secret agenda of recruiting future Penn Staters from her middle school classroom. Recent news …   more ›

Lower Moreland Students Prepare for Fifth Year of THON

Lower Moreland High School students are getting ready to spend 12 Hours dancing in a mini dance MaraTHON to raise money in the fight against pediatric cancer.

As they approach Friday, Nov. 18, more than 300 Lower Moreland High School students will be preparing themselves mentally and physically to be on their feet for 12 hours – dancing, running or standing – in an effort to raise money in the fight against pediatric cancer. Starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, in the gym of Lower Moreland High School, hundreds of students will be participating in the school’s fifth annual Mini Dance MaraTHON – modeled after the 46-hour event that began at Penn State University. The event will be packed with music, sports, games, grade-versus-grade competitions and guest speakers.
