High School Senior Rewarded for 'Passion for Helping Others'

Lower Moreland senior Sara Murphy received the Student of the Month award for February.

Lower Moreland senior Sara Murphy was presented a certificate from Superintendent Dr. Marykay Feeley for being February's Student of the Month. "Sara happens to be the captain of our cheerleading squad at the high school and is also an active member in the Buddy Program," Dr. Feeley said. "She's the type of person that faces everyday with a smile, and is happy to help in any way that she can. "Most recently, Sara assisted in choreography in several of the dances in our Lip Sinc, and participated in half of the night's performances. Additionally, she has taken on the majority of the planning and preparation for both this year and last year's Ultimate Challenge. Her dedication to supporting worthy causes is evident by her willingness to stay…

Lower Moreland Student 'Stands Among the Best of the Best'

Lower Moreland senior David Lakata received the Student of the Month award for February.

Lower Moreland High School Senior David Lakata was presented a Student of the Month certificate from Superintendent Dr. Marykay Feeley for February. Last month, Lakata was honored as a National Merit Finalist. "We know you have the intelligence," Dr. Feeley said. "You are very involved, you have great organizational skills, and your humility is something that people talk about when they describe you. Lower Moreland Student of the Month: Lindsey Yam

Yam, a senior at LMHS, was recognized at the School Board meeting Tuesday night.

The Lower Moreland School Board presented its Student of the Month awards at its meeting Tuesday night. Senior Lindsey Yam earned the female honor and was rewarded for her hard work and dedication inside and outside of school. "Lindsey is one of our 12th grade students," Superintendent Dr. Marykay Feeley said. "She is receiving this award for a couple of reasons. She is very mature, dedicated and quite enthusiastic as a student. Lindsay comes to school with a smile on her face and willingness to participate. She cares for her siblings at home and her grandmother who is ill. "Despite the hours that she's actually spending taking care of them," Feeley added, she earns good grades.
