Huntingdon Valley Library to Host Annual Golf Outing

Proceeds from the annual golf outing benefit the Huntingdon Valley Library, and will take place at the North Course of The Phlmont Country Club.

The Huntingdon Valley Library will host its annual golf outing, June 4 at the  North Course of the Philmont Country Club, located at 301 Tomlinson Road in Huntingdon Valley. The following information is courtesy of Huntingdon Valley Library: The shotgun start golf outing lets golfers experience the tree-lined fairways and fast greens of this fabulous tournament course while supporting the library. The event is sponsored by Huntingdon Valley Bank, which has provided a $3,000 sponsorship for this significant library fundraising effort. The entry fee of $250 (individual) or $900 (foursome) includes a complete package of luncheon, golf, cocktails and dinner. Valley Youth Center, LM PTA Hosting Fundraiser at Philmont CC

The 6th Annual 'It's All About the Kids' Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, Jan. 26.

The Valley Youth Center & the Lower Moreland PTA are having their 6th Annual It’s All About the Kids Fundraiser on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Philmont Country Club, 130 Tomlinson Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA to benefit the children in both of these 501 c 3 organizations.  Tickets are $45 per person until January 21 and includes a live band, REVERSE, an A Sharp Production. A delicious buffet will be served including: There will be a cash bar with great raffles as well. Casual dress and nobody under 21-years-old will be admitted. Purses Stolen at Philmont Country Club Bat Mitzvah

The following was reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

While attending a Bat Mitzvah at the Philmont Country Club on Nov. 12, two daughters had their purses taken from the Founders Room between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Their father reported that his older daughter had a black women’s purse valued at $100. In that purse was a new Apple iPod Touch 4. His younger daughter had a silver women’s purse valued at $100, which also had an Apple iPod Touch 4 in it. The devices were valued at $300 each. Additionally, his younger daughter’s purse had a pair of her mother’s diamond stud earrings valued at $400. According to the report, the father was not going to report the incident because he believed the items were stolen and nothing could be done about it. Health Inspections Conducted at Lower Moreland Businesses

A couple of local businesses were paid a visit by the Montgomery County Health Department in July and August.

Police Log: Dog Bites, DUI and Criminal Mischief at Philmont

The following was reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

July 20 – DUI Richard Ziegler Jr., 58, of Philadelphia, has criminal charges pending after police found him asleep at the wheel in Just-a-Farms. The key was in the on position and his headlights were illuminated when police found him. Ziegler had very slurred speech and appeared confused when cops woke him up. He was removed from the car and was unsteady on his feet. He admitted to drinking at least three beers at a bar earlier in the night, and said he pulled over because he saw his engine oil light flash. He registered a .21% BAC and failed field sobriety tests according to the report. July 19 – Dog Bites While walking her two Yorkshire Terriers, Susan Kaplan, 55, of Huntingdon Valley, she saw a medium sized white and brown dog running …

Saw the dog incident and that was NOT the way it really happened! The dog had gotten under the fence & the owner immediately ran out 2 try and restrain her dog. Susan Kaplan's daughter was walking her 2 tiny dogs & didn't pick up either dog. The Yorkshire terrier got away from the young girl and off the leash and started running down the street... Police Log: DUI, Suspicious Persons, Criminal Mischief

The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

May 18 – DUI Dale Wagner, 49, has a DUI charge pending after police pulled him over for swerving on the road and going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. The driver crossed from the westbound lane to the right curb lane causing the traffic stop. Wagner admitted to having three beers at a bar prior to driving, and police said that he had slow speech and his motor skills were lethargic. After exiting the car, police asked Wagner again how much he had to drink. This time he said three to five beers. According to the report he failed field sobriety tests and he refused to take a preliminary breathe test. Golf Outing at Philmont to Raise Money for Local Charity

Mary Kate’s Legacy Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps families of special needs children, will host its Seventh Annual Golf Outing on May 14.

Mary Kate’s Legacy Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps families of special needs children, will host its Seventh Annual Golf Outing on Monday, May 14 at the Philmont Country Club. The fundraiser begins at 10:30 a.m. with a brunch and a noon shotgun start. A cocktail hour and dinner featuring Joe Conklin as well as a silent auction will follow. Holland residents Tom and Eileen Marlow started the foundation in honor of their daughter, Mary Kate, who passed away in 2005 at the age of 11 after battling Infantile Neuro-axonal Dystrophy, a rare progressive disease.
