The Lions won the district title with a win over New Hope-Solebury in a game that came down to one final two-point conversion.
After a 0-10 season, the Lions have come back to do the unthinkable. The Lower Moreland football team won the District 1 Championship against New Hope-Solesbury with a 14-13 win in a late-game thriller that went down to the wire. With 20 seconds remaining in the game, New Hope connected a long 35-yard touchdown pass and an extra point was all that separated the two schools from a tie score and possible overtime. But New Hope chose to go for the win with a two-point conversion attempt. Before the snap it was a raucous atmosphere in the stands with LM fans chanting, “Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye.” Everybody was standing in anticipation before the two-point conversion was attempted. After a loss to Morrisville, the Lions will take on New Hope tonight for a shot at the district title.
After a hard fought game against Morrisville, the Lower Moreland Lions football team finds itself in a great spot. October 27 the Lions fell to Morrisville 25-14 and it gave the shot of a B.A.L league title virtually impossible. But when one door closes, another one opens. Tonight, the Lower Moreland Lions will be taking on New Hope-Solebury High School for the District 1 Championship. It is odd that the Lions will not be able to win their league, but compete for a district championship, but it is happening. The Lower Moreland girls basketball team lost to New Hope-Solebury 29-28 on Wednesday, February 29.
Playing as the third-seed in the District One Class AA semifinal, the Lower Moreland Lions varsity girls basketball team had its season come to a close at the hands of second-seeded New-Hope Solebury. In a game played at Upper Moreland High School, Allie Morganstein's last-second 3-pointer wouldn't fall as the Lions drew up their final play with 2.8 seconds left. Morganstein led all scorers 17 points in the 29-28 loss. “I love having the responsibility on the team to take control,” Morganstein said. “I actually asked coach in the fourth quarter and he gave me the green light to shoot any time.
