Volunteer Opportunities for MLK Day and Beyond

If you are looking for a place in the area to donate your time and energy, take a look at some of the available opportunities.

This Monday, January 21, the country celebrates the life of a civil rights pioneer on Martin Luther King Day. Since the day was first established in 1983, it slowly evolved into a day of service, when people and communities donate their time and energy toward a good cause. There are plenty of opportunities in the area for anybody interested in volunteering either on Monday or any other time throughout the year. Local Martin Luther King Jr. Observances

New Bethel A.M.E. Church will host a service tonight in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Pastor Hamlin will be preaching tonight, Wednesday Jan. 16, at New Bethel A.M.E. Church, 1646 Prospect Ave., Willow Grove, in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. The Ministerial Alliance Service will start at 7 p.m. Alliance churches include: First Baptist Church of Crestmont; McKinley Memorial; First Baptist Church of Huntingdon Valley; New Bethel A.M.E.; Willow Grove Community Baptist Church; Antioch Baptist Church; Second Baptist Church of Doylestown. For more information: www.sbcod.org. The Lower Moreland School District and Upper Moreland School District schools and offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 21 in observance of MLK Day.
