On January 16, the Lower Moreland Police Department responded to Manor Care Health Services, 3430 Huntingdon Pike, after a complaint was made about two drunk visitors who were supposed to be visiting their mother who is a patient there. The subjects were identified as Kathleen Shiepe, 54, Robert Shiepe, 57, both of Philadelphia. According to the report, both subjects had slurred speech and were asked to leave the facility by an administrator. According to the report, their mother was in the beauty salon at Manor Care and the two siblings were seen dancing with other residents in the hallway while waiting for her. July 28 – Dog Law & Bites A resident called LMPD to report that two dogs - a large, grey and black Great Dane, and a brown and white Bassett Hound - were loose on his property with no collars or leashes on. The resident claimed that while the Great Dane was running around his backyard, it attacked his cat. The dog’s owner, Marc Pressman, 55, of Huntingdon Valley, stated that he had just finished washing his dogs but didn’t realize they got loose. Pressman told police that he believed his dogs ran to the neighboring property because the homeowner has given food to both of his dogs in the past. July 20 – DUI Richard Ziegler Jr., 58, of Philadelphia, has criminal charges pending after police found him asleep at the wheel in Just-a-Farms. The key was in the on position and his headlights were illuminated when police found him. Ziegler had very slurred speech and appeared confused when cops woke him up. He was removed from the car and was unsteady on his feet. He admitted to drinking at least three beers at a bar earlier in the night, and said he pulled over because he saw his engine oil light flash. He registered a .21% BAC and failed field sobriety tests according to the report. July 9 – Burglary, Forced Entry While showing a potential home for sale, an employee of a real estate company discovered that the back door was broken and the utility closet was entered. According to the report, an unknown subject(s) used a pipe cutter or similar tool to remove multiple sections of the copper pipe attached to the heating system. It appears 10-20 feet of copper was removed from the vacant house. July 2 – Theft The owner of Penn Fluid Systems called LMPD to report that two gas grills, a line trimmer and a leaf blower were stolen out of a shed on the rear of the property. June 12 – Warrants LMPD observed a grey Ford Explorer parked in the lot of the Philmont Train Station after hours and while SEPTA trains were no longer running. The male, Lewis Devaughn Jr., 38, of Philadelphia, told police he works for Five Star Ambulance Company and was going to sleep for a couple hours before his shift started. While checking for warrants a bench warrant was discovered out of Bucks County – for writing bad checks – and he was detained. The Bucks County Sherriff’s Department later picked him up. June 10 – Narcotics Possession Following a fight with his girlfriend at McDonald’s, Ronald Bachman, 33, of Trevose, decided to walk it off towards Welsh Road. May 29 – DUI Tatyana Kogan, 18, of Holland, sustained an arm injury after flipping her Toyota Camry upside down. Police arrived on scene to the car flipped over on its roof and the driver was found sitting on the side of the road. Kogan said she was drinking at a friend’s house prior to driving and did not know what caused her car to flip her car. Police noticed her lips and tongue to have a bluish tint to them, and Kogan said it was from drinking a blue Slurpee. There was no Slurpee in the car according to the report. Kogan registered a .120% BAC. She was taken to the hospital to treat her injury and was informed she was being arrested for DUI. Charges are pending the blood results. May 14 – Public Drunkenness Sean Fisher, 38, of Morton, was issued a citation for Public Drunkenness and Disorderly Conduct after being thrown off a SEPTA train for being too drunk. A conductor contacted LMPD to report they had an intoxicated passenger, who became belligerent and confrontational when asked to produce a ticket or other means of payment for the fair. The cops approached the male, who was on his cell phone, and he said to the person on the other end of the line, “well this isn’t going to be good the cops are coming to talk to me.” The man claimed he had a ticket and was not causing any problems. May 7 – Suspicious Persons An LMPD officer observed a small, black and red Honda Civic swerve several times on Washington Lane near Terwood Road. It crossed the double yellow lines in the roadway, and the police decided to follow it. After losing sight of the car, the police later found it to be parked at the end of a driveway on Fritz Circle. A neighbor said she did not recognize the car, and the residents were most likely at work at the time. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the car had driven through the rear yard of a home and was able to drive through the adjacent property to exit on Deerpath Rd. April 30 – DUI Matthew Higgins, 26, of Bensalem, has a DUI charge pending after registering a .237% BAC. Higgins was seen in his silver Ford Escape traveling at a high rate of speed (50 mph in a 35) down Welsh Road. Police immediately detected the smell of alcohol on his breath once it made the stop. Higgins admitted to having a few beers earlier in the night. April 29 – DUI Randy Cusuman, 52, of Langhorne, has a DUI charge pending after officers observed him weaving in the lane and nearly crashing into the median. According to the report, Cusuman failed field sobriety tests, and did not blow into the PBT device correctly to render a reading. April 13 – DUI Annelise Zitzer, 21, of Abington has a DUI charge pending and Chelsea Eberhardt, 20, of Abington will be cited for underage drinking after the two were stopped near the intersection of Huntingdon Pike and Chestnut Street. A police officer watched Zitzer strike the curb on Welsh Rd. before accelerating towards Huntingdon Pike. Once police made the stop, they found an empty bottle of Pinnacle Vodka on the back floor of her Toyota. Zitzer registered a .212% BAC while Eberhardt's test revealed she was above the legal limit at .120%.
