The Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association (PenSPRA) recognized the Lower Moreland School District in the Website Category of the 2012 annual Education Communications Contest. According to the PenSPRA website, the organization’s goal is to improve educational communication and support student achievements through systematic, proactive, and responsible public relations programs. The contest holds 12 categories, from School Calendar to District Communication Plan, as well as Website. Teachers and students seem to be embracing Lower Moreland School District’s ‘Bring Your Own Device’ program.
The Lower Moreland School District’s technology program, “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD), was the topic of discussion at the April 24 Technology committee meeting of the Lower Moreland School Board. The district’s director of Technology, Sue Casagrand led the discussion, and provided the board with an update of the program. “We have some excellent teachers moving forward with the pilot of Bring Your Own Device,” Casagrand told the board. According to the Lower Moreland School District website, the pilot BOYD program started in April 2012, and has since caught on with teachers at the elementary, middle and high school levels. The ‘Navigating Their Digital World’ event is open to all families in the Lower Moreland community.
The Lower Moreland School District (LMSD) will host its first “Navigating Their Digital World” event, May 14, from 6-8:45 p.m. at the Pine Road Elementary School. The event is designed for any family in and around Lower Moreland, specifically for parents with children in grade four or older. “I think it’s an important event, not only for everybody in our education community in Lower Moreland, but also outside of it,” Sue Casagrand, the district’s director of Technology, said. “Because, it’s such a big issue.” According to Casagrand, the event follows the "Take 25" campaign, which encourages families to make child safety a national priority. The Lower Moreland School District and Lower Moreland Township have summer programs, designed to keep youth moving and active. The Lower Moreland School District offers its "Lion's Sports Camp", which will take place at 555 Red Lion Road in Huntingdon Valley. Participants can participate in several specialty sports, including: Soccer, basketball, tennis, wrestlilng, softball, badminton, team handball, floor hockey and baseball. The Lower Moreland Township Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of a portion of Lower Moreland School District property to build recreational facilities.
The Lower Moreland Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution to purchase a portion of Lower Moreland School District property at its April 17 business meeting. The portion of school district land, located along the 500 block of Red Lion Road in Huntingdon Valley, lies in the far end of the Lower Moreland High School athletic fields. Lower Moreland board president commissioner Robert DeMartinis read aloud the resolution, in which he stated that the property would be purchased for the purpose of developing recreational facilities. DiMartinis later explained that it would be a joint project between the township and the school district in that the township would manage the property, while students of the school district would …

Teachers and parents of the Lower Moreland School District expressed favor of keeping district custodians at the recent school board meeting.
The April 16 Lower Moreland School Board business meeting heard several testimonials from teachers and parents of the Lower Moreland School District community, advocating the board retain the custodial staff throughout the district. The testimonials were in response from the board’s undertaking a Request for Proposals (RFP) that would seek bids from outside companies to provide custodial services throughout the district. According to a related fact sheet on the Lower Moreland School District’s website, dating back to Oct. 22, 2012, the reason for the RFP for facilities maintenance services is so that the school district may explore options for further fiscal responsibility. According to the district's website, counselors are being sought for the District's Summer Sports Camp. "Counselors would be responsible for overseeing campers and leading Camp activities," said the district's site. "At least two Camp Counselors will need to be lifeguard certified."
