Police Log: Drunken Man Gets Tossed Off SEPTA, DUI, Criminal Mischief

The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

May 14 – Public Drunkenness Sean Fisher, 38, of Morton, was issued a citation for Public Drunkenness and Disorderly Conduct after being thrown off a SEPTA train for being too drunk. A conductor contacted LMPD to report they had an intoxicated passenger, who became belligerent and confrontational when asked to produce a ticket or other means of payment for the fair. The cops approached the male, who was on his cell phone, and he said to the person on the other end of the line, “well this isn’t going to be good the cops are coming to talk to me.” The man claimed he had a ticket and was not causing any problems. Hundreds of Dollars Stolen from 102-Year-Old Woman

An elderly resident living at Gloria Dei Towers called LMPD to report the theft of $753.

Anna Juvan is 102-years-old, but she's still capable of balancing her own checkbook. Juvan, who lives by herself in an apartment at Gloria Dei Towers, 753 Welsh Rd., called the Lower Moreland Police Department on May 8 after she noticed that $53 was missing from her personally kept bankroll. She told police that last week $700 was taken from her apartment, but did not report it at the time. According to the report, Juvan keeps cash in several bank envelopes wrapped together with a rubber band inside a larger envelope in her apartment. Most of the cash she keeps is winnings from small gambling events at Gloria Dei. That's a lot of Bingo money. Police Log: Teenage Girl Found with Heroin Paraphernalia; Man with Syringes; Burglary

The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

May 7 – Suspicious Persons An LMPD officer observed a small, black and red Honda Civic swerve several times on Washington Lane near Terwood Road. It crossed the double yellow lines in the roadway, and the police decided to follow it. After losing sight of the car, the police later found it to be parked at the end of a driveway on Fritz Circle. A neighbor said she did not recognize the car, and the residents were most likely at work at the time. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the car had driven through the rear yard of a home and was able to drive through the adjacent property to exit on Deerpath Rd. Cops Hoping Big Meth Bust Will Decrease Activity in Lower Moreland

Over the last six months there have been a number of incidents in LM involving illicit drugs.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman has announced the arrest of 32 suspects in connection with a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking operation, which spanned from northern Montgomery County to Philadelphia and included 12 residents of Lansdale Borough and Hatfield, Towamencin, Montgomery and Upper Gwynedd townships. Methamphetamine was recovered from a motorcycle repair shop in Lansdale, according to the report, just one of many locations where police executed search warrants. While most of the suspects who were arrested come from the western part of the county, Lower Moreland has its fair share of incidents relating to illicit drugs (more than most surrounding townships according to other Patch sites). PHOTOS: Car Crashes Through Front of House in Albidale

A car was driven into a house this afternoon on Sheffield Lane.

A driver crashed her car through the front of a house on the 900 block of Sheffield Lane shortly before 3 p.m. Friday afternoon. The Lower Moreland Police Department, Huntingdon Valley Fire Company and Bryn Athyn Ambulance were on-scene and successfully removed the vehicle from the home. There were no injuries reported. According to a witness, the daughter drove her black SUV into the front of parent’s house. She was receiving treatment nearby. The accident occured across from Dove Circle.  The scene was cleared shortly after 4 p.m.

Police Log: Theft from Funeral Home, CVS, Manor Care and Numerous DUI's

The folllowing incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

April 30 – DUI Matthew Higgins, 26, of Bensalem, has a DUI charge pending after registering a .237% BAC. Higgins was seen in his silver Ford Escape traveling at a high rate of speed (50 mph in a 35) down Welsh Road. Police immediately detected the smell of alcohol on his breath once it made the stop. Higgins admitted to having a few beers earlier in the night. April 29 – DUI Randy Cusuman, 52, of Langhorne, has a DUI charge pending after officers observed him weaving in the lane and nearly crashing into the median. According to the report, Cusuman failed field sobriety tests, and did not blow into the PBT device correctly to render a reading. Police Log: Cops Stop Woman with Warrant for Arson, Forced Entry Burglary, DUI

The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

April 23 – Burglary – Forced Entry A resident of the 2300 block fo Packard Ave. called LMPD to report that she came home to find her bedroom heavily ransacked. She said she came in the front door and noticed that a drawer in the living room was open. In the kitchen she saw the back window had been forced open. A large amount of jewelry was missing and a mahogany chest containing $1,000 in gold US President’s coins. There were also several children’s wallets stolen. One neighbor claimed he heard two loud bangs but did not look outside. Another neighbor said he saw a white male, tall, thin, wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt, walking around Dale Rd. looking around as if anyone was watching him. Police Log: DUI, Criminal Mischief, Theft

The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

April 13 – DUI Annelise Zitzer, 21, of Abington has a DUI charge pending and Chelsea Eberhardt, 20, of Abington will be cited for underage drinking after the two were stopped near the intersection of Huntingdon Pike and Chestnut Street. A police officer watched Zitzer strike the curb on Welsh Rd. before accelerating towards Huntingdon Pike. Once police made the stop, they found an empty bottle of Pinnacle Vodka on the back floor of her Toyota. Zitzer registered a .212% BAC while Eberhardt's test revealed she was above the legal limit at .120%. April 11 – Criminal Mischief Richard Altopiedi, 70, reported that a window on the side of his garage was broken. When he went inside his garage he found a rock lying next to the window. He did not …

Police Log: Juvenile Driver Crashes, Missing Diamond Ring, Theft

The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

March 27 – Theft David Wedell, 53, of Huntingdon Valley, reported that an unknown actor(s) entered three of his cars sometime overnight. Wedell returned home at midnight and discovered that someone had rifled through the glove compartments of the unlocked cars. The only item determined to be missing was an iPod Nano ($120). March 23 – Traffic Enforcement – Underage Driving LMPD received a call for suspicious activity involving a gold SUV that was operating on a flat tire. It was reported that the occupants in the car jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the woods in the area of Levy Lane towards County Line Road. Police Log: Crack Cocaine Bust, Stolen Mezuzahs and Tefillin, DUI

The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

March 13 – Theft Levy Weber, 37, of Huntingdon Valley, reported that numerous religious items were stolen from his black 2001 Hyundai Elantra that was parked in his driveway. The actor(s) broke the front passenger window and stole a black canvas briefcase with “International Conference of Shluchini” logo on it. Inside that briefcase were a Tefillin (box of scrolls) and eight Mezuzahs. March 11 – DUI James Kirsch, 42, of Willow Grove, was cited after he backed his car into another parked car in the Oh! Bryon’s parking lot. When police arrived on scene they noticed Kirsch had trouble standing while trying to stay in one place.
