Lower Moreland Police link a Jeep to a possible DUI accident near Byberry and Heaton Roads.
Feb. 24 – Hit-and-Run accident While on patrol, a Lower Moreland police officer saw a muddy Jeep Liberty with damage to its fender flare, headlight lens stopped in the roadway on Byberry Road. To the side of the road, the police officer also saw an un-numbered Verizon utility pole, which was sheared off and pushed approximately 20 feet west from its original location. Just beyond the remaining utility pole was a small tree with fresh damage. The car had heavy front-end damage and was missing its front fender, consistent with what police officers believed to be from crashing into the pole and tree. The driver, of Warminster, admitted to drinking two beers earlier in the night and said he left the scene of the accident because his cousins …

July 28 – Dog Law & Bites A resident called LMPD to report that two dogs - a large, grey and black Great Dane, and a brown and white Bassett Hound - were loose on his property with no collars or leashes on. The resident claimed that while the Great Dane was running around his backyard, it attacked his cat. The dog’s owner, Marc Pressman, 55, of Huntingdon Valley, stated that he had just finished washing his dogs but didn’t realize they got loose. Pressman told police that he believed his dogs ran to the neighboring property because the homeowner has given food to both of his dogs in the past. The following was reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.
June 18 – DUI Joseph Mullen, 46, of Warminster, has DUI charges pending after being involved in an accident. One witness called LMPD to report that a Jeep Liberty had struck a utility pole and felt the driver may leave the scene. The witness approached Mullen and asked if he needed assistance. Mullen said he hit a deer, and the witness called police and remained on scene. Police arrived and while speaking to Mullen it detected the odor of alcohol. He was unsteady on his feet and continually moved around while talking to police, according to the report. Mullen failed to satisfactorily complete field sobriety tests and police learned he had prescription drugs. Police believed he was under the influence and was incapable of safely operating a…
