Sketch Released of Burglar Who Tried to Trap Resident

Police are searching for a man posing as a Water Department employee after he robbed a home in Huntingdon Valley.

Following the home invasion in Huntingdon Valley, the Lower Moreland Police Department has released a sketch of the subject. A man posed as an employee of the Water Department and told the resident he needed to check the water in her home on the 170 block of Clearview Avenue. The homeowner answered the door, but when she turned around she realized the suspect had already entered her house through the side door. Believing that she was being robbed, the woman, who is in her 80’s, followed instructions after the man told her to go into the bathroom to check her pipes. Burglar Tries to Trap Resident in Bathroom During Break-In, Police Say

A Huntingdon Valley resident reported a man posing as a Water Department employee forced his way into her home.

A Huntingdon Valley resident reported a burglary to her home around 2:45 p.m. on the 170 block of Clearview Ave on Sunday, Feb. 10. The resident stated that she heard a knock on the front door, but nobody was there when she answered it. As she turned her around, she saw a male enter through the side door and began walking toward her in the kitchen. The male stated his name Joe Patino and told her he was Italian. According to the report, he was in his 30’s, about 5’10”, black hair, and no facial hair. The resident asked him what he was doing in her home, and the male responded he was with the Water Department and was checking for water contamination. Forced Entry Burglary Reported—Again—in Lower Moreland

A resident reported his house was burglarized while he and his wife were at work.

The following information was supplied the Lower Moreland Police Department: A homeowner on the 2200 block of Washington Lane called LMPD at 4:23 p.m. on Jan. 30 to report his house was burglarized. The homeowner stated that he and his wife left the house at 8:30 a.m. But when he arrived home, he saw the front door was ajar and pieces of they metal door jam were laying on the floor.  According to the report, the door appeared to be forced in, with the door jam split vertically. The homeowner also reported his dresser drawers in his bedroom had been open and laying on the floor. Robber Steals Jewelry in Forced Entry Burglary in Lower Moreland

The following information was supplied by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

On Dec. 11, a Huntingdon Valley resident on the 400 block of Pheasant Drive called LMPD to report that his home was burglarized. Police found crow-bar type tool marks/indentations on the door and the door jam area. Closets were left open and the master bedroom was ransacked. The following items were reported as stolen:

The following alert was released by the Upper Moreland Police Department via nixle.com: Upper Moreland Township and surrounding townships have experienced a recent surge in daytime residential burglaries. Streets in Upper Moreland where burglaries have occurred include; Terwood Rd., Davisville Rd., Pioneer Rd., Fitzwatertown Rd., and Byberry Rd. The burglars knock on the front door and if someone answers they make up a story about why they are there. If nobody answers, they go around to the back of the house and force entry. Forced Entry Burglary, Needle Found at Park Reported to Police

The following was reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

Sept. 4 – Suspicious Persons, Circumstances A resident called LMPD to report that she found a needle while walking her dog near the playground at Ridgway Park. She found a capped intravenous syringe with an orange cap over the needle in the grass. Extra patrol was requested to the park due to possible drug activity. August 30 – Burglary – Forced Entry A resident on the 400 block of Byberry Road called LMPD to report someone had broken into their house. It was discovered that the actor entered the home through an open sunroom front window. The actor removed the screen and it was found on the ground. Another Home Robbery Reported in Lower Moreland

The following was reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

Last week the Lower Moreland Police Department was informed of another break-in where actors used forced entry to gain access inside the house. A homeowner at the 3800 block of Buck Rd. called LMPD after she discovered her laundry door was ajar after she got home from work. She then noticed damage from the forced side door in the hallway entrance. It appears the suspects pried the lock to the door to get in the house. The interior door frame and part of the dry wall was damaged. The only items known to be taken were jewelry from the master bedroom. Incidents like this have been showing up regularly in the police log. Two weeks ago, one resident reported that over $8,000 in jewelry was stolen from her master bedroom in a burglary. In …

Police Log: Flat Screens Stolen After Forced Entry; Car Thefts

The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

June 25 – Theft from Auto Barbara Schulz, 46, of Huntingdon Valley, reported that her unlocked 2010 Ford Fusion was entered and the actor removed all of the loose change and bills she had in a pull-out caddy to the left of the steering column. There was approximately $10-$15 taken. June 22 – Theft from Auto Kurt Souder, 27, of Huntingdon Valley, came into LMPD to report that someone had stolen $120 from his car while it was parked outside of his house. He discovered the front door of his Buick Lesabre was slightly opened and the money was taken from the pull-out ashtray. Souder said his car was parked on the street in front of his house and that it was locked. There have been numerous similar thefts in the Abington/Rockledge area, …

Gun Pulled on Resident During Home Invasion

Two males posing as deliverymen knocked on someone's door, entered the home and pulled out a gun and asked for a safe.

On Saturday, May 19, at approximately 1 p.m., the Lower Moreland Police Department was called to a resident's home on the 1400 block of Heaton Hill Road in LM Township. A homeowner reported two black males knocked on the front door of the resident's house posing as deliverymen. When the homeowner opened the door the males entered the home. One of the males possessed a large handgun and pointed it at the homeowner. The males inquired about a safe in the home. When the males discovered there was not a safe in the home, they ran from the residence on Heaton Hill Road toward Heaton Road. There were no injuries as a result of the confrontation.
