Lower Moreland Student Plays in ESPN Showcase in Florida

Corey Mayer participated in Disney's Field Hockey Showcase.

Lower Moreland sophomore, Corey Mayer, traveled to ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida in early February to play in the Disney Field Hockey Showcase. Approximately 200 club teams from around the country play on the “ultimate proving ground” to be seen by hundreds of college coaches. Mayer’s club team, the U16 Mystx Force won their pool and then advanced to the Daisy Flight Championship bracket. The Force tied the team that would eventually win the Daisy Flight.

Field Hockey Team Raises Money for Breast Cancer

For the second straight year the Lower Moreland field hockey team raised money and awareness for a great cause.

Despite its game against Christopher Dock ending in a tie, the girls on the Lower Moreland field hockey team have nothing to be disappointed about. The Lions hosted their annual "Play 4 the Cure" event on Thursday, and perhaps the result of the game was fitting where there were no losers. Lindsay Boerner, Nicole Founds and Corey Mayer each scored once against Delco Christian in a 3-3 draw after a scoreless overtime. But the team was the big winner yesterday raising over $500 which will be donated to the American Cancer Society.  The team hosted the same event last year with similar results. The team's uniforms transformed from blue and gold to pink to support cancer. That color was the theme of the day as the white lines on the field were …

LM Field Hockey Storms Past George School

The Lions continued their great start to the season with an 8-1 win over George School on Monday.

Kristen Nichols scored three times and Lindsay Boerner and Corey Mayer each added two goals to lead the Lower Moreland field hockey team to a win on Monday. The offense connected often to the tune of an 8-1 win as Halle Roesser capped off the scoring against the George School. Maddy Kierod added to the offensive effort with two assists while teammate Kelly Duffey chipped in with one. Lower Moreland Field Hockey Raising Awareness for Breast Cancer

The LM field hockey team will host a Play 4 the Cure fundraiser during its game on Oct. 4.

Following up on the success of last year's event, the Lower Moreland varsity field hockey team is hosting a second Play 4 the Cure fundraising event. The game will take place on Thursday, Oct. 4 when the Lions host Delco Christian at 3:45 p.m. The girls wear pink uniforms, the lines on the field are painted pink and the players raise money before and during the game with various activities that benefit Play 4 the Cure. LM Field Hockey Team Remains Unbeaten

The Lions continued their hot start to the season with a 5-0 win over Upper Moreland.

The Lower Moreland varsity field hockey team picked up its third straight victory to start the season with a 5-0 win over neighboring rival Upper Moreland last Friday. Five players tallied a goal apiece to lead the offensive charge for the Lions. Linsday Boerner, Nicole Founds, Demenica Ricciuit, Corey Mayer and Joey Riley each scored a goal while Maddy Kierod and Kristen Nichols chipped in with two assists each. The Lions won't play a game until next Thursday, Sept. 20, when they take on Bristol at home at 3:45 p.m.

Lower Moreland Field Hockey Shuts Out Cheltenham

The Lions won both of their scrimmages by identical 6-0 scores.

Maddy Kierod scored twice and added an assist to help lead the Lower Moreland field hockey team to a 6-0 win over Cheltenham in Tuesday's scrimmage. Lindsay Boerner, Corey Mayer, Kristen Nichols and Emily Uliano each added a goal to add to the offensive effort. Mayer dished out two assists and finished with three points in the game. Last Friday, the varsity girls earned another 6-0 win, this time over Landsdale Catholic in a scrimmage.  Kierod collected three goals while Mayer and Boerner added a goal and an assist each in the dominant win. Nicole Founds also scored for the Lions. Lower Moreland will face Christopher Dock at home on Tues., Sept. 4 at 3:45 p.m

LM Field Hockey Team Back in Action

The fall sports schedule is underway at Lower Moreland.

The Lower Moreland High School field hockey team will be back in action this week with a home scrimmage against Landsdale Catholic on Friday at 11 a.m. Coach Danielle Kline enters her second year with the team and will try to improve on last year's 6-9-1 record. Lower Moreland Players Compete in Disney Field Hockey Showcase

Lindsay Boerner and Corey Mayer traveled to Orlando, Fla. to play against some of the country's top talent.

Lindsay Boerner and Corey Mayer traveled to play in the Disney Field Hockey Showcase played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. from Feb 9-12. This is the ultimate place for top field hockey players to be seen by hundreds of college coaches looking for top field hockey talent. During this tournament, Lindsay and Corey represented Mystx Field Hockey Club.  The team won their division and advanced into the "Mickey Flight" (considered the premiere pool for the tournament).  In the end, the team did not win the overall championship however, they placed in the top percentile of all 80 participating teams.
