PennDOT Teams Up for Labor Day DUI Enforcement Campaign

The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign will run through Sept. 3.

PennDOT, police, the Valley Forge Area DUI Enforcement Team and the Montgomery County Health Department will kick off a Labor Day DUI enforcement campaign at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, in front of the Target Pharmacy, 2250 Chemical Road, Plymouth Meeting, Montgomery County. Police statewide will participate in the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign through Sept. 3. During the Labor Day holiday enforcement, Pennsylvania’s effort will highlight the increasing issue of drug-impaired drivers and conduct roving patrols and DUI checkpoints. The Pennsylvania DUI Association’s DUI Victims’ Moving Memorial will also be on display to honor and remember those who lost their lives because of impaired drivers.   In 2011, there were 11,…

PennDOT, Police to Partner for Independence Day DUI Enforcement

PennDOT, state and local police will work together in a national enforcement effort targeting motorists driving under the influence.

State and local police, along with PennDOT, will take part in a national enforcement effort through July 8 targeting motorists who drive under the influence. The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement effort will focus on keeping Pennsylvania’s roads safe during the Independence Day travel period. “Many people will celebrate and travel for the Independence Day holiday,” PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch said. “Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs puts your life and the lives of those around you in danger. Designate a driver ahead of time or arrange for a ride home – just don’t drive unless you’re sober.” Over last year’s Fourth of July holiday travel period (July 1-4), there were 897 crashes and 14 fatalities.
