Former Murray Ave. Vice Principal Charles Hurst Denied Bail On Corruption of Minors Charges

The former Vice Principal was denied bail on two corruption of minors charges this week.

It looks like Charles Hurst won’t be sending out more text messages anytime soon. The former Murray Avenue vice principal was denied bail Wednesday while he appeals the 2 ½-5-year state prison sentence he was given for two corruption of minors charges stemming from an incident at the North Penn School District where he sent inappropriate text messages to teenage boys. Hurst, 37, turned himself in to authorities on May 20, but he remained at the county prison until a ruling on his bail request could be heard. The defense was denied post-trial motions for a lesser county sentence as well by Philadelphia Senior Judge John L. Braxton. Lower Moreland Responds To Charles Hurst Guilty Plea; Searching For New Assistant Principal

After former assistant principal Charles Hurst plead guilty to two counts of corruption of a minor, Lower Moreland is moving forward

Former Lower Moreland assistant principal Charles Hurst pled guilty to two counts of corruption of a minor last week after sending inappropriate text messages to two 13-year-old boys. Hurst, 37, of Montgomery County, faces a possible maximum sentence of 5-10 years behind bars, and it’s unlikely he’ll ever be able to work in a school district ever again. Lower Moreland, however, is doing its best to rebound from the unfortunate situation and will be looking for full-time replacement starting next week. Hurst was hired by Lower Moreland in July 2010 after numerous background checks and interviews with former colleagues revealed no crimes or character issues. He moved ahead of almost 20 candidates who applied for the job and eventually was …
