Lower Moreland Tree Planting Event Set for Saturday

The township will host its 4th annual tree planting event this weekend. This year it will take place at the lower entrance to the HV Library.

Lower Moreland Township will hold its 4th annual Tree Planting event Saturday, April 28 at 9 a.m. at the Huntingdon Valley Library.

The previous events over the last three years have all been a success, so come out and show your support and be environmentally responsible. Last year kids planted trees at Ridgway Park, and in previous years trees have been planted at the township complex and along Philmont Avenue. You can stop by and check them out to get an idea of what the event is about.

"Each year we plant 15 to 20 trees in the township," said Steve Woerner, Lower Moreland Public Works director at last year's event. "We realize the benefits of trees to the community and to the environment. We try to choose native trees because they are better adapted to the soil and climate conditions. It's great to get the students involved—they can watch them grow and return in a few years to see how the trees are growing."
