International Tapas Tour Benefits Youth Orchestra

The Youth Orchestra of Bucks County will host an evening of food, music and shopping to support its programs. Tickets are now available for the October 28 event.

The Youth Orchestra of Bucks County bills its latest fundraiser "International Tapas Tasting Tour."

It's scheduled for Friday, October 28 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at historic Tyler Hall on the campus.

In addition to gourmet tapas and other tasty treats, Roberta Mayer, BCCC's Visual Arts Area Head, will lead an art and history tour of Tyler Hall. There will be plenty of music, of course, including performances by the Fe Fi Faux Jazz quartet, guitarist Brad Mills and the YOBC Honors String Quartet.

The evening will also include both a live and silent auction. While attendees can already browse an array of auction offerings, YOBC is still accepting donations for items.

More information is available on the YOBC Web site, including a link to purchase tickets. Attendees who purchase a ticket before October 9 will receive a $10 voucher for the auctions.

The YOBC features students from across Bucks and Montgomery counties, as well as New Jersey. Over the course of more than 20 years, more than 1,500 students have participated in the YOBC.

The orchestra has received a grant from the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance to support the Master Class series, but needs additional funds to continue other programs, including its scholarship program, which offers students full or partial tuition waivers, as well as private lessons on their instrument. Currently, 12% of YOBC students receive financial assistance.
