Lower Moreland Area Hot Spots to Cool Off

How are you beating the heat? Here's some 'cool' ideas.

It's hot outside, and the heat index is expected to reach 104 degrees today. Here's a few ideas to get out of the house and stay cool today in the Lower Moreland area.

Community pools at Crestmont Park and Penbryn Park have daily rates for individuals and are open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily.

Join the Huntingdon Valley Library for their Summer Reading Club programs throughout the summer, including "Fact and Fiction - Ants!", Thursday, July 18 at 7 p.m. or "Digging Dinosaurs" on Tuesday, July 25 at 7 p.m.

Beginning Monday, join the library's Bricks4Kids Mining and Crafting summer camp by registering online. The camp combines the world of Minecraft and Lego for a week of challenges using Lego bricks.

Get active at The Sports Zone in Southampton, which offers batting cages, a rock climbing wall, kid's zone, slam ball and more.

In Feasterville, The Party Train at Joe's Train Station is holing an open house this Sunday, July 21 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. The Party Train, located 2 doors down from the store, is filled with model trains while being educational.

The Franklin Institute has a special exhibit called "Spy: The Secret World of Espionage" which, according to the website, features artifacts including a collapsible motorcycle, a robotic catfish, and get the spy experience first hand.

The Franklin Institute is open Thursday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. and Sunday through Wednesday 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
