Lower Moreland School Board to Elect President

The Lower Moreland School Board will hold its reorganization meeting tomorrow night to elect its president.

The current school board president Dr. Murray Cohen will be temporarily replaced for the vote. That temporary president, who will be elected into that position when the meeting starts, will then call for nominations for next year's President of the School Board.

"During the Reorganization Meeting, a temporary Board President will be put into place as a procedural formality before a vote is taken on the Board leadership positions," Dr. Mary Kay Feely said in an email. "The temporary Board President position only lasts until the vote on the Board President is held at the meeting.”

Dr. Cohen could be re-elected into the position, and if only one nomination is recommended, then there will be a motion to close nominations and hold a role call vote.

1. Call to order by Vice-President of the Board acting as the Temporary Chairperson

2. Pledge of Allegiance – Mr. Khalif

3. Election of Temporary President

(a) Vice President calls for nominations for a Temporary President of the Board.
(b) The motion is seconded, the vote taken, and the Vice President turns the meeting over to the Temporary President.

4. Election of President

Temporary President calls for nominations for the Office of President of the Lower Moreland Township Board of School Directors for one (1) year.

(a) If there is only one nomination, the Temporary President calls for a motion to close nominations followed by a roll call vote. Once the vote is taken, the Temporary President announces that by a vote of ____ ayes, ____nays, and ____ abstentions, Dr./Mr./Mrs./Ms.________________ is elected President of the Lower Moreland Township Board of School Directors to serve for one year until the first Tuesday in December 2013.

(b) If there is more than one nomination, the Temporary President calls for a motion to close nominations followed by a roll call vote for each nominee until a majority is reached. Once the vote is taken, the Temporary President announces that by a vote of ____ ayes, ____nays, and ____ abstentions, Dr./Mr./Mrs./Ms.________________ is elected President of the Lower Moreland Township Board of School Directors to serve for one year until the first Tuesday in December 2013.

5. Election of Vice-President

Temporary President calls for nominations for the office of Vice-President of the Lower Moreland Township Board of School Directors for one (1) year.

Same procedures are to be followed as for the election of President.

6. Newly elected President and Vice-President are seated.

7. Adjournment

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. in the Pine Road Boardroom.
