Lower Moreland Jazz Performs at Savannah Music Festival

LM was one of the select schools chosen to perform at the 2012 Swing Central Jazz.

Lower Moreland made the exclusive cut of only 12 high school jazz ensembles that were picked from across the country who were invited to perform at the 2012 Swing Central Jazz Workshop on March 28-30.

The Lower Moreland Jazz Ensemble earned the opportunity to play and perform with world class jazz musicians, including clinics with Wycliffe Gordon, of the Lincoln Jazz Orchestra.

“I can’t speak enough about how hard these kids work,” director Eric Stroup said shortly after the selection was made. “They are so dedicated and they are being rewarded for it ... you couldn’t ask for a better group to represent you.”

LMHS played three selections including: "Grease Bucket” composed by Wycliffe Gordon, “Sweet Georgia Brown” by Sammy Nestico for the Count Basie Orchestra, and “Conservation” by Bobby Watson.
