Trees Cut and Clipped While Owners Away, Police Say

A resident reported that several trees and shrubs were trimmed and had branches cut off in the front of their home.

A Huntingdon Valley couple were away for four days. When they returned home on March 3, they noticed that several small trees and shrubs in the front of their yard had been trimmed and branches were cut off. The trees and shrubs were not bordering any other property, according to the report, on the 1200 block of Mettler Lane.

Several large Arborvitae shrubs were trimmed from the ground up to 4-5 feet, making the top halves much wider and fuller. Other smaller shrubs were trimmed all over. Other shrubs had 1-3 branches cut from each.

The resident told police that last summer while they were away, they returned to find the branches had been cut off a Japanese Maple in the back yard.
