Pregnant Woman with Warrants Arrested After Making U-Turn

The following was reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

On Oct. 8, a Lower Moreland police officer made a traffice stop in the area of Byberry Rd. and Philmont Ave. after a driver in a black Range Rover made a U-Turn on Byberry Rd.

The driver, who identified herself as Amanda Smith, of Philadelphia, did not have any identification on her. A computer check revealed she had a suspended license because of a DUI, and another computer check revealed she had a warrant for shoplifting.  She was handcuffed from the front because she was 6 months pregnant. She was taken into custody.

While searching Smith, two small white chalky rock like objects were found in her jacket pocket. Smith said it was her medication which she is prescribed.
