Police Log: Counterfeit Money at Mens and Boys Store; Theft

The following was reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

Oct. 31 – Theft

  • 3900 block of Heaton Road

Lower Moreland Public Works contacted LMPD to report the theft of barricades that were placed around the township because of Hurricane Sandy. The barricades were plastic fold-open type with stop signs affixed to them. Each barricade costs approximately $100. They were placed at:

- Huntingdon Pike and Moreland Road

- County Line Road and Pine Road

- County Line Road and Buck Road

Nov. 1 – Fraud

  • The Men’s and Boys Store

The owner of the Mens and Boys Store called LMPD after two subjects attempted to pay for merchandise with counterfeit money. The subjects handed the owner what she thought was 2 $100 bills and one $50 bill. The two men left the store in an older, beat-up, silver or gray Chrysler minivan.

After the owner recognized that the money was fake, she confronted the two subjects as they were driving away. The subjects then turned the merchandise back over to the owner.
