Manor Care Employees Get into Fight in Patient's Room

Two employees of Manor Care got into a physical altercation in an elderly woman's room while she was still there.

The Lower Moreland Police Department was already responding to a minor incident at Manor Care Health Services, 3430 Huntingdon Pike, on July 28 when an officer was approached by an employee who wanted to report an assault.

The employee told the responding officer that coworkers Shadae Marquis, 22, of Philadelphia, and Charles Sawbo, 30, of Philadelphia, were invloved in a fight in a patient's room. She heard yelling and screaming coming from the room and decided to see what was going on.

As the one employee entered the room, she saw Sawbo strike Marquis with a closed fist, after which Sawbo pushed the other employee to the ground causing her to fall backwards and strike a table next to the patient’s bed. She said during the fall, she struck the table with her head and blacked out. Once she came to, she needed help getting on her feet. She suffered from severe head pain and had a lump on the back of her head after the fall.

Another Manor Care employee then saw Marquis and Sawbo fall onto an unoccupied bed in the room after pushing and shoving each other. Sawbo was seen on top of Marquis yelling and shaking her, and according to the report, Marquis claims that Sawbo was trying to rip her shirt off. Other coworkers eventually broke up the fight, but the argument continued in the hallway and dining room area until supervisors arrived on the nursing floor.

According to the report, the dispute started over a conversation about the care of one patient. Citations for harassment will be filed against Marquis and Sawbo. The patient who’s room the fight occurred in was not injured during the altercation.
