Man Hits Concrete at Wawa, Orders Sandwich, Police Say

A Bryn Athyn man was charged with DUI after allegedly driving into a pillar at the Lower Moreland Wawa store.

A 61-year-old Bryn Athyn man has been charged with DUI after allegedly driving into a concrete pillar at the Lower Moreland Wawa store.

John Odhner of Alnwick Road, was charged on Aug. 14 with Driving Under the Influence of alcohol and operating a vehicle without inspection following the Aug. 7 crash at Wawa, 2500 Philmont Ave., in Huntingdon Valley.

After allegedly hitting the pillar, "appearing to nod off multiple times behind the wheel" and then going inside the store to buy a sandwich at 2:59 a.m., police said Odhner "seemed irritated that someone would call the police on him for such a minor thing," according to the police report.

Odhner, who police said admitted to drinking "a few beers" earlier at the Bethayres Tavern, had a BAC of 0.19, according to the report.
