Huntingdon Valley Man Caught with 20-Inch Pot Plant

The following was reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

On August 2, an officer from the Lower Moreland Police Department was assisting the Bryn Athyn Police Department on a pedestrian stop in the area of Buck Rd. and Huntingdon Pike. The officers observed Rondald Lenkiewicz Jr., 37, of Huntingdon Valley, drop a plant that he was holding in his hand on the sidewalk along Buck Road. He then dropped a small metal object on the ground and the officer stopped him for an investigation.

The plant was 20 inches tall with a small dirt-covered root ball. The plant had leaves with five serrated leaflets consistent with a marijuana leaf. The plant had the slight odor or marijuana, according to the report. The small metal object was a wood chisel with a red handle and dirt on the metal.

Lenkiewicz told police that he found the plant in a wooded area off Byberry Rd. He claimed he found the plant while walking in the woods and he planned on planting it in another location.

Officers also smelled alcohol on Lenkiewicz’s breath, and said Lenkiewicz’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy. He will be cited for Public Drunkenness and Disorderly Conduct for the possession of the marijuana plant.

I am so glad our tax dollars are being used to stop a man with a plant from replanting the plant. I feel much safer now.
Just to be clear, I don't fault the police for enforcing the law. It's what they are sworn to do. I fault idiotic policy and the lawmakers who conjour that policy. Do we really need to toss a guy through the system over a plant? Just how much money is this going to take?

Lmao seriously who the heck walks down buck road in broad daylight with a pot plant and doesn't expect to get caught????

I love both Eric and Sues points. The man could have been a little smarter about it and in sure being intoxicated didn't help his situation but there are real criminals that could be making big news.

When that plant gets to court it will have been given the best fertilizers, lighting and water possible. It will have grown from 20" to 8 feet tall.
