Forced Entry Burglary, Theft Reported in Lower Moreland

Oct. 15 – Burglary; Forced Entry

• 3600 block of Marc Lane

A resident called LMPD to report her home had been broken into sometime on Oct. 15. When she arrived home, she noticed the garage door leading into the house was locked, and she usually leaves it unlocked because she usually enters through the garage entrance. When she went into her bedroom, she saw it was ransacked and some of her jewelry was spotted in the backyard.

The gate leading to the rear of the property appeared to have been open by the actors. The device that keeps it closed was detached when the homeowner arrived at her house. The rear sliding door that leads into the kitchen was forced open with what appeared to be blue smudge marks on the doorframe. Some of the resident’s jewelry had been scattered on the patio and outside table. Several dresser drawers were left open and two of them were taken out, emptied and left on her bed. A jewelry box was emptied and left on the night stand. The resident also reported that her checkbook was opened, but was unsure if any of the checks were missing.

Several items in the home were recovered for processing of fingerprints left behind by the actors.

Oct. 15 – Theft

• Valley Car Wash – 2261 Huntingdon Pike

The assistant manager of Valley Car Wash contacted Lower Moreland Police to report damage to the property. According to the report, three 15-foot red advertisement flags were intentionally bent over sometime between Oct. 14 and Oct. 15. The assistant manager also reported a fourth flag was missing, and possibly stolen sometime over the week. The flags are valued at $60 each.
