DUI Driver Crashes into Cemetery Sign; Wrecks Local Business

The following information was supplied by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

On January 13, a police officer observed a gray BMW 530 parked at the driveway of Flower Station at the corner of Philmont Avenue and Byberry Road. The car wasn’t running and the windows were down. The officer noticed structural damage to Flower Station as a corner of the building was smashed in. Broken glass and plastic was strewn about the rest of the parking lot. Nobody was in the car when police arrived. Further investigation revealed that the car was headed south on Philmont. As it approached the intersection of Byberry Rd., it the car left the roadway and collided and destroyed The Forest Hills Cemetery sign.

While checking the scene, the officer heard male voices behind the Citgo Gas Station just inside the Philadelphia County line. Police apprehended the driver, Dzianis Betseu, 23 of Philadelphia, who was placed in the back of the police car. According to the report, he said, “Officer I am drunk. I know I am drunk.” He registered a 0.21% BAC.
