Chalfont Man Faces DUI Charges

Lower Moreland Police said that prescription medication may have caused a two-vehicle crash.

Prescription drugs may have played a role in a two-vehicle crash, according to Lower Moreland Police.

Mark A. Dimichele, 53, of Meadow Road in Chalfont, appeared to have a "carefree and nonchalant" attitude after rear-ending a car in the 2400 block of Huntingdon Pike in Lower Moreland on Wednesday at about 8:30 a.m., according to the police report.

He was arrested after the crash and faces charges of driving under the influence and related offenses following the results of the lab analysis.

Police said Dimichele first said he pushed his brakes to the floor and was unable to stop, but later said he "may not have been paying attention closely," causing him to strike another car.

No injuries resulted from the crash, police said.

Dimichele told police he takes Valium and Oxycontin or Percocet, according to the report.

Police said an aspirin bottle was found inside Dimichele's car. In it, were various medications, including 11 Oxycodone pills, four pills identified as Lorazepam, as well as four other medications, according to police.
