Artists young and old should be getting the creative juices flowing for ShopRite's second annual "Designed to Fight Hunger" contest, which is now underway.
ShopRite Partners in Caring and General Mills are challenging artists to create an original design to be featured on reusable shopping bags. The effort looks to raise awareness of hunger and support ShopRite's hunger-fighting initiative.
The winner will receive $2,500 and have his or her design featured on the bags in all 250 ShopRite locations. In addition, ShopRite will donate $2,500 to his or her local food bank.Submit designs at BagDesignContest.com. All entries must be received by Dec. 31, 2013.
Customers can enter their unique design at BagDesignContest.com. Entries must be submitted by December 31, 2013.
“Raising awareness of the issue of hunger is at the heart of the mission of ShopRite Partners In Caring,” said Christine Magyarits, spokesperson for Partners in Caring in a press release. “Our customers have always been dedicated to helping us in this mission and this contest is great way to enlist their generous spirit in the fight against hunger.”
The judge's panel will include last year's winner—Katrice Sylvester of Williamstown, NJ. Last year, Sylvester's local food bank, The Food Bank of South Jersey, received a donation.
“I have seen the effects of hunger firsthand and it is an issue that is very close to my heart,” said Sylvester in a press release. “I am so honored to be a part of this fight against hunger and it is my hope that this design speaks to the issue while motivating others to get out there and make a difference in the community."
