Whatever That Smell Was, It Wasn't Natural Gas

Both PECO and PGW received reports of a gas smell that wasn't.

A mystery smell wafted over Philadelphia, Montgomery and Buck counties Sunday afternoon, prompting more than 100 calls of alarm to various utility companies.

PECO and PGW fielded calls from concerned residents worried that there was a gas leak in the area, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Whatever the smell was, it wasn’t natural gas. It also remains unclear what it was people were smelling, but the unpleasant odor had dissipated by early evening.
