Lower Moreland Township is currently holding its bagged leaves and yard waste collection. The collection occurs from April through December.
According to the Public Works page of the Lower Moreland Township website, leaves in biodegradable bags is will be collected by 7 a.m. Monday morning. The bags should not contain stones, branches or brush. The leaves and yard waste bags should be placed on the edge of the curb, not in the street, and several feet from the trash. Leaves placed in plastic bags will not be collected.
Residents can purchase leaf collection bags at the Lower Moreland Township building, located at 640 Red Lion Road in Huntingdon Valley, for the following prices:
- 3 bags for $1
- 50 bags (one bundle) for $16
The site states that the bags are extended to township residents only, and proof of residency may be required.
A curbside leaf-pile program is scheduled during the fall and winter months, starting in October.
According to the Spring/ Summer 2013 Lower Moreland Township newsletter, the Public Works Department reports that over 380 tons of yard waste was collected from residents from the Monday pickup throughout 2012, with 8,577 cubic yards of leaves collected from the curbside loose-leaf pickup. This resulted in a $88,000 savings in trash tipping fees.
