Saturday Soccer in Huntingdon Valley

As usual in the Fall, I spend my Saturday on multiple soccer fields. It was a beautiful day.  My daughter successfully completed Microsoccer with only one wimper of "I want to go home."  This was a win in my book.  I love the Microsoccer program and Coach O.  His students and assistant coaches at the high school did a great job last year and have continued to have an excellent program this year. We have been experiencing Micrsoccer since my oldest, who is now 10, was in it.
The next event was my son's soccer game.  The HVAA Intermediate boys in house soccer team, the Las Angeles Galaxy, lost to Houston.  The LA Galaxy goalie did an excellent job and was on top of the play the whole game.
By early afternoon, it was time to roll out to Fishtown for the U9 Girls Soccer game.  The referee was a little late because of the time change to the game, but the girls were pumped.  They lost in a tough match.  The were winning two to one at the half, but Fishtown had more stamina and won in the end.  The girls did a great job and never gave up.  They were very determined and made everyone proud.  We couldn't just end our day like that, so we trekked out to Wynnfield.
This summer HVAA hosted the St. Joseph's Soccer Camp.  The kids loved the week-long camp.  As an appreciation to the campers, St. Joseph's honored the campers at their men's soccer game last night.  The campers did a rally tunnel on the field at the beginning of the game and got to play on the field at halftime.  They got some free pizza too.  All of the campers were excited to see their coaches on the field.  St. Joe's lost to Cornell 0-1, but the kids loved the experience anyway.  I hadn't thought of it until I was there, but taking the kids to a local university game is a great (and cheap) way to get them to see the games up close.  No tickets needed.
Lastly, a side note, I heard the HVAA Boys U9 won on Saturday.  Great job, boys.
