'Game of Thrones' Game Hits Shelves Tuesday

The role-playing adventure for Xbox 360 and PS3 was inspired by author George R. R. Martin's bestselling "A Song of Ice and Fire" fantasy series.

George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series is one of the hottest media properties out there. With five books (plus a sixth being written and a seventh planned) and the white hot Emmy-winning HBO adaptation Game of Thrones in its second season, its popularity shows little sign of waning. With a superb setting, great characters, and lots of fantasy tropes to borrow from, adapting Martin's worlds and unique storytelling style to a role-playing video game seems like a no-brainer. Teaming with both Japanese game publisher Atlus and Martin himself to do so makes that decision even smarter. Atlus brings a wealth of RPG experience to the table; Martin ensures that the game retains the feel of his books and makes sure everything …

Huntingdon Valley Violinist Returns to Glencairn Museum for Performance

Huntingdon Valley's Ben Odhner, who performed at Glencairn Museum as a teen, returns April 29 as an accomplished college grad studying with top instructor.

When violinist Ben Odhner returns to Glencairn Museum in Bryn Athyn Sunday, April 29, concertgoers will see just how far the musician has come – from the guy who first played the museum’s Great Hall as a teen to a college graduate now studying with a top instructor. The concert is set for 3 p.m. at the museum, 1001 Cathedral Rd. In 2007, when he was 18-years-old and a student at the Academy of the New Church Secondary School in Bryn Athyn, Odhner performed for the first time at Glencairn with older brother, Nathan, on the French horn. Later that year, he graduated from ANC and entered the Cleveland Institute of Music in Ohio where, over the next four years he exceled as a performer, and captured numerous awards. The Bryn Athyn Experiment: Replicating Medieval Glass

The Glencairn Museum will explore works from as early as the 12th century in the 3-hour tour.

The following information is listed on the Glencairn Museum web site: In the 1920s the craftsmen of Bryn Athyn began a great experiment to rediscover techniques of medieval stained glass. In the process they worked out their own unique methods for glass making and painting in the medieval style. This 3-hour tour will include an in-depth look at the works created for the home of Raymond Pitcairn paired with the extraordinary collection of 12th-century glass that inspired them. The tour will conclude in Glencairn's studio for a demonstration of techniques based on the discoveries of the Bryn Athyn craftsmen, many of which blur the distinction between restoration and forgery. About the Instructor: J. Kenneth Leap has been painting on glass …

Videogame Preview: Prototype 2

The saga of Alex Mercer and the Blacklight virus continues in the Prototype sequel, but with an interesting twist.

In 2009, two very similar games were released within weeks of each other to positive reception from critics and gamers alike. PS3-exclusive inFamous had a hero named Cole MacGrath in a fictionalized version of New York City get imbued with electricity-based powers after an “event” wreaked destruction and havoc in the city, and it provided the choice to be good or evil. The multiplatform Prototype had test subject Alex Mercer possess extraordinary powers after being subjected to a virus, and he then set out across Manhattan to learn the whole truth about what happened to him. While Prototype clearly had the superior story, inFamous’ tighter controls made it the better overall game. And while inFamous 2 came out last year, Protoype 2 is just…

We've Got Game

Is Sony Looking to Kill Used Games, Too?

As details of Sony’s PS4/Orbis console emerge, the disturbing specter of not allowing used games again rears its ugly head.

Recent days have seen information come out on all three next generation consoles. The Wii U finally seems to have a launch date (November 18), and the ‘Nextbox’ is rumored to require a constant Internet connection to play even single player games. But the big news is the first round of rumors of what we may expect from Sony’s fourth console, codenamed Orbis. As usual, Kotaku helped lead the charge in providing the rumored information to the successor to the PS3 console. And unfortunately, it seems that once again a console manufacturer is almost going out of its way to anger its customer base. So what are some of the reported basics? Those are all great things to hear, and not much of that is unexpected when considering that new consoles…
