Series of Thefts Reported in Lower Moreland
The following was reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.
August 6 – Theft
- 3900 block of Sheffield Drive
While doing landscaping work in Albidale, a worker reported that numerous items were stolen from his truck. He said he believed the theft occurred between noon and 2:30 p.m. while he was away from the job site and his workers were working in the rear of a home. A hedge trimmer ($300) and a gas powered backpack leaf/grass blower ($550) were stolen.
On August 9, a similar incident was reported when another landscaper reported that his backpack blower ($545) was stolen from the back of his work truck on the 3700 block of Blake Rd.
The landscaper said he noticed an older model S-10 Blazer driving suspiciously through the neighborhood just prior to the theft being discovered. The Blazer was driven by a white male and drove past the landscaper several times and his put his head down as if he did not want to be seen.
August 3 – Theft
- Altchem Environmental Services – 1300 Industrial Blvd.
The “general counsel” for Altchem Environmental Services called LMPD to report a stolen piece of equipment belonging to the company. He said that he discovered that a “grapple and bracket” costing $15,250 was missing for an excavator. He noticed it was missing while taking inventory.
He described the grapple as “Sany 210”, yellow in color, and was purchased by Altchem in Oct. 2010. He added that it weighs approximately 3,000 lbs and would need a heavy crane to remove it from the lot. The last time the grapple was accounted for was in April 2012.
August 2 – Thefts
- 1700 block of Birch Road
A resident on the 1700 block of Birch Road called LMPD to report that he and wife’s cars were entered sometime overnight on Aug. 1. His Breitling watch ($700) was taken from the center console and his Lenevo laptop ($600) was taken from the backseat. In his wife’s car, the glove compartment and center console were open, but nothing appeared to be missing.
- 500 block of Pinney Rd.
A similar incident was reported on the 500 block of Pinney Rd. as a resident reported that a Garmin GPS ($120) was stolen from her husband’s Toyota Tacoma.
- 3500 block of Daylilly Way
Another resident also reported that her car was entered sometime during the night hours of Aug. 1. The following items were reported as stolen: Garmin GPS ($180); MPS Player ($60); Cosmetic supplies ($25) and an orange and green dress ($40).
