Police Log: Pit Bull Attacks, DUI and Thefts

The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

April 9 – Theft

  • Quality Care Automotive – 141 Tomlinson Rd.

Michail Krayzel, 46, reported that the registration plate from his 2003 Ford F-150. The car was parked in the lot of Quality Care Automotive for the past four months. He brought another car in for an oil change, and noticed the plate from the other car was missing. A representative at Quality Care Automotive said his car was parked in the front up until about three weeks ago, when it was moved to the rear of the lot.

April 8 – Public Drunkenness

  • Fairway Plaza – 2600 Philmont Ave.

Andrey Sarukhanov, 24, of Huntingdon Valley, was charged with Public Drunkenness after LMPD initiated a stop of a BMW that was parked in the parking lot of Fairway Plaza.

An officer observed the BMW parked extremely close to an unoccupied car and could initially see someone in between the two cars. The person in between the cars walked to the rear of the BMW, but once she saw the police car, she immediately turned around and hurried back to the BMW.

When police approached the car, Sarukhanov said his car had broken down and he pushed it into the lot. The BMW was on at the time, with the key in the ignition, and the cop heard it running before the driver turned it off.  The passenger, Yelizaveta Masyagina, 20, of Philadelphia, stated the same thing that the car wouldn’t start. She also told the cop she was changing her clothes when she was between the two cars, but would not elaborate why she was changing. According to the report the cop wasn’t sure if the two had an altercation or if she was just intending to go to the bathroom.

Sarukhanov displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. He had glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He dropped several items out of his wallet when asked for ID. He dropped a wad of cash and did not realize. He registered a .116% BAC.

April 7 – Dog Bite

  • 3700 block of Burns Rd.

Owners of a mixed terrier called LMPD to report that another dog attacked their dog Jack. The owners informed police that this was the fourth incident between the two dogs, but only one previous attack was reported.

They were walking their dog along Burns Road when a Stafford terrier pitbull, Lucy, began chasing after Jack. Lucy was on the front lawn of its owner’s property, but was not wearing a leash. He went off the property to engage with the other animal.

The owner tried to protect Jack and got in the middle of the two dogs. She suffered a laceration to her middle finger and a bruise on her right knee, but did not need medical attention. Lucy’s owner’s, the Elwood’s, were made aware of the incident and issued a citation for confinement of dogs.

April 7 – Theft

  • 3800 block of Jeffrey Rd.

Cynthia Chilli, 44, of Huntingdon Valley, reported the theft of jewelry from her mother’s home. Cynthia lives in Virginia but takes care of her mother, Shirley, on the weekends.

She does not believe this was a burglary because there were no signs of forced entry into the house. The following items were reported stolen:

  • 6 Gold Women’s Rings
  • 3 Gold Chains
  • 1 Gold Pendant
  • 3 Gold Anklets
  • A box of approximately 50 assorted rings

April 7 – DUI

  • Forest Hills Cemetery – 25 Byberry

While in patrol, an LMPD officer observed a white male walking through the Forest Hills Cemetery and began to scream curse words loudly enough for the officer to hear. The officer noticed the male walk towards a white car in the driveway of the cemetery. The officer initiated a stop and found two females were in the car.

The driver, Yana Hayda, 18, of Holland, got in a fight with her boyfriend, Alec Krayzel, 26, of Southampton, on the way home from a Philadelphia nightclub and Krayzel got out of the car. Police had him stopped outside of Pine Road Elementary School while he was questioning Hayda and the passenger, Lyubov Bandrivska, 19, of Holland.

The officer detected the odor of alcohol and a Preliminary Breath Test was administered. Hayda (.08%) and Bandrivska (.11) both have DUI charges pending. Krayzel (.07%) was charged with Disorderly Conduct.
